The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit Research and Educational Institution with a strong scientific and Technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels.  Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.  Within this context, CyI in cooperation with Advanced Partners Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, University of Helsinki and Commission for Atomic Energy – Laboratory for Sciences of the Climate and the Environment, are establishing the “(EMME-CARE) Eastern Mediterranean Middle East – Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre of Excellence” under Horizon 2020 – TEAMING Grant no. 856612.

Under the Supervision of the EMME-CARE Director, and the co-Supervision of the Head of EMME-CARE Research and Innovation Support Office (RISO), the successful candidate will contribute in the execution of all R&D project management related activities of EMME-CARE. The successful candidate will support the development, management and implementation of all administrative and budgetary activities of research projects under the Environmental Observations Department of the EMME-CARE Centre-of-Excellence. More specifically, the successful candidate will provide support to the management, monitoring and reporting of both national (RIF, DG EPCD, etc.) and international funded projects.  Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute in the communication with partners and stakeholders of the Centre-of-Excellence, as well as in grants and tenders’ proposal preparation.

The appointment will be on a full time basis, initially for a fixed-term period, with the potential of renewal depending on performance and EMME-CARE and Institute needs.


  • Support to research project oversight of RIF related projects
  • Support to project administration/coordination (timesheets, progress & financial reporting, deliverables, communication with funding organizations)
  • Support logistics for events and meetings
  • Communicate with project partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in communication with funding agencies, the European Commission and the National Contact Points for receiving clarification on various aspects of proposal writing and the relevant regulations
  • Support identification of funding opportunities
  • Aid in the development and creation of proposals for research Grants and Services-Tenders


Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field such as Business or Project management, Economic, Political or Social Sciences, European Studies or Environment-related sciences
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in project management
  • Excellent knowledge of the English and Greek languages both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail) and knowledge in internet search engines.
  • Previous experience in monitoring and reporting of national and EU-funded projects
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to a multicultural/multidisciplinary environment
  • High level of organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Previous experience in monitoring and reporting of RIF and/or EU-funded projects
  • Previous experience in a research/academic institution in a related field
