The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations, cross-disciplinary research, innovation, and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centres, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.

The CyI accepts applications for a highly motivated professional to join the Institute at the position of ”Officer of the Research and Innovation Management and Support Office” (RIMS). 

The selected candidate will report to the Head of the RIMS office and will work closely with all Scientific Coordinators and researchers of the Institute. The successful candidate is  expected to contribute to a series of research and innovation support activities,  support the institute’s costing practices for services related to its research activities, as well as  to contribute to the monitoring and optimization of use of the institute’s labs and infrastructure. The position requires proven experience in Managing and Coordinating research projects, excellent inter-personal skills and experience in research facilities. 

The appointment will be on a full time basis, initially for a period of two years, with the potential of renewal depending on performance and availability of funds. The remuneration of the position will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications.



  1. Supporting  the oversight of research and innovation projects (various funding sources including EU, Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF))
  2. Contributing in the execution of Project administration and coordination activities, including financial reporting, deliverables, communication with funding organisations
  3. Supporting the identification and promotion of research and innovation funding opportunities
  4. Aiding in the development and writing of research and innovation project proposals
  5. Supporting the internal and invoicing process
  6. Contributing  to the monitoring and optimization of use of the institute’s labs and infrastructure


Job Requirements

Required Experience and Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in any natural sciences or engineering field
  2. Previous experience of writing and/or supporting researchers in writing research proposals
  3. Experience in management and administration of research projects funded by the EC and the RIF.
  4. Experience in presenting to medium and large audiences
  5. High level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt to a multicultural/multinational environment
  6. Excellent knowledge of office IT
  7. Excellent knowledge of oral and written Greek and English


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  1. Experience in a research and/or academic institution
  2. Lab experience  
  3. Master’s degree holders will have a competitive advantage.
