The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research aims of the CyI are represented by three research centers: the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC), and the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

The CyI seeks to recruit a highly motivated professional to assume the position of the Assistant Vice President of Institute Affairs of the CyI.

Job Description

The Assistant Vice President of Institute Affairs, in cooperation with the Institute’s senior administration and under the supervision of the President will be responsible to lead and coordinate the development and implementation of Institute-wide initiatives and activities including International Relations, Institute Policy and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Duties and Responsibilities

The overall objectives, duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Vice President of Institute Affairs include the following:

  • In consultation with the Institute’s President, to cooperate with Institute units in developing appropriate Institute-wide policies
  • To work with the appropriate management and administration in implementing policy decisions
  • Lead in the development of CSR strategy and in the implementation of relevant activities in collaboration with related CyI offices
  • Lead under the guidance of the President the development and implementation of the Institute’s International Relations Strategic Plan
  • Manage the Institute’s International Affairs activities and ensure its agenda’s implementation through strategy, setting of objectives and coordinating activities
  • Manage the Institute’s international agreements with Institutions abroad
  • Represent the Institute and the President in local and international fora
  • To undertake any other responsibility as instructed by the President.
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree; a PhD degree will be considered an advantage
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum experience of 3 years in an educational institution of higher education or research institution at a position with proven record of coordination of relevant to the position’s activities is required
  • Ability to multitask and change priorities with minimum supervision
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt to a multicultural /multinational environment
  • High level of organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of oral and written English and good knowledge of the Greek language. Knowledge of more languages will be considered an advantage.
