The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and education institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The CyI seeks to recruit a highly motivated professional to join the HR team of the Institute at the position of Human Resources Officer.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the successful candidate will contribute in the execution of all HR activities and in the accomplishment of the department’s long-term development and projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Active contribution in the organization and execution of all general activities of the HR Department ensuring compliance with the relevant Cyprus and EU legislations
  • Responding to all internal and external inquiries and provides the necessary support in HR related matters
  • Supports the coordination and undertakes the execution of the Institute’s Staffing and Recruitment & Selection activities
  • Undertakes the coordination of the Onboarding and Induction and Orientation procedures ensuring the smooth adjustment of new staff members
  • Contributes in the execution of the Performance Management System and contributes in all Training and Development activities of the Institute
  • Actively participates in the development, implementation and communication of all HR related projects and procedures
  • Handles visa applications for international staff
  • Contributes in the activities of all types of leave and benefit processes and queries
  • Enters personnel related data to the relevant HR databases and prepares accurate information reports as necessary
  • To contribute in the department’s HRIMS activities
  • Contributes in the coordination of all personnel related events
  • Maintains and develops the Institute’s personnel filing system
Job Requirements


  • Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or Master of Business Administration with focus on Human Resources Management or equivalent degrees.
  • Previous experience in an education/research Institution will be considered an advantage 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the EU and Cyprus employment legislation.
  • Excellent IT skills in MS Office and particularly in Excel as well as ability in the use of other software and systems.
  • Excellent knowledge and command of the Greek and English languages both verbally and in writing
  • High level organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask changing priorities with limited supervision in a high-pressure work environment
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to communicate with discretion and to maintain confidentiality in all matters

The salary of the position will depend on the qualifications and level of experience of the selected candidate.
