The Cyprus Institute (www.cyi.ac.cy) invites applications for an HPC System Engineer to join the High Performance Computing (HPC) Facility Operations Group. The institute is an international science and technology research and post-graduate education organization, in pursuit of regional and inter-regional problems in the Eastern Mediterranean often of global significance.
Through the operation of high performance supercomputing systems and associated user support for Cyprus and the region, the HPC Facility provides services to many scientific and technical communities.
The HPC Systems Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the HPC Facility at the Cyprus Institute. As a member of the High Performance Computing Facility (HPCF) operations team the successful candidate will share responsibility for the systems administration of the facilities which include small and large scale HPC systems, private cloud, data storage, HPC networks as well as pre and post-processing systems. Duties include the interaction with HPC users, hardware maintenance and upgrade, technology evaluation and follow-up. The successful candidate will work in Cyprus and will report to the Head of the HPC Facility.
The appointment will be of a full time basis, initially for a fixed term period of two (2) years with the potential of contract renewal depending on performance and availability of funds. The salary and rank of the position will depend on the successful candidate’s level of experience and qualifications.
