The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research aims of the Cyprus Institute are represented by three research centers: the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC), and the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be involved in setting up Instruments and Experimental Systems for measuring the concentration of Gaseous Air Pollutants and the properties of Aerosol Particles. These systems will be employed in field campaigns and laboratory measurements to study Intrinsic Aerosol Particle properties. Apart from these tasks, the role of the Research Assistant will be to analyze the measurements and summarize findings in papers and reports.


The successful candidate’s responsibilities will be the following:

  • To develop/assemble and Calibrate Instruments and Experimental Systems
  • To assist with Field and Laboratory Measurements
  • To analyze Measurements
  • To write Reports and Publications
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • At least a Master’s degree on one of the following specialization:
  • Mechanical and/or Chemical Engineering
  • Aerosol Science and Technology
  • Particle Physical Chemistry
  • At least 1 year of previous relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in research laboratory
  • Familiarity with Computational packages (e.g., Matlab)
  • Proven ability to work in interdisciplinary collaborative environments
  • Proficiency in oral and written English, knowledge of the Greek language will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • The appointment will be on a full-time basis initially for a fixed term period of one year with the potential of contract renewal depending on performance and availability of funds.
