Job Description

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research aims of the CyI are represented by three research centers: the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC), and the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC).

The Institute accepts applications for a highly motivated professional to assume the position of Assistant Vice President of the Cyprus Institute. 

In cooperation with the Institute’s senior administration and under the supervision of the President will be primarily responsible to coordinate the strategic planning of the Institute’s development including that of the Graduate School.

The appointment will be on a full time basis and the remuneration of the position will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Vice President in cooperation with the Institute’s senior administration and under the supervision of the President will be primarily responsible to coordinate the strategic planning of the Institute’s development including that of the Graduate School.

In addition,in consultation with the Institute’s President:

  • To coordinate Institute units in formulating, refining and implementing their strategic and developmental plans
  • To develop appropriate Institute-wide policies
  • To work with the appropriate management and administration in developing and implementing policy decisions
  • To coordinate with the Dean of the Graduate School the development and implementation of measures and policies concerning CyI’s Graduate School and educational activities
  • To undertake any other responsibility as instructed by the President
Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Holder of a Master degree; a PhD degree will be considered a competitive advantage
  • At least five (5) years of previous similar experience
  • Minimum experience of 3 years in an educational institution of higher education or research institution at a position with proven record of coordination relevant to this position activities is required
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt to a multicultural /multinational environment
  • High level of organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of oral and written English and good knowledge of the Greek language. Knowledge of more languages will be considered an advantage.
