Job Description

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research aims of the CyI are represented by three research centers: the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC), and the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC).

The Institute accepts applications for a highly motivated professional to join the Research and Innovation Management and Support office (RIMS) at the position of Coordinator. 

The selected candidate will report to the Vice President of Research and will work closely with all Scientific Coordinators and Principal Investigators/project leaders of the Institute. The position requires proven experience in managing and coordinating research projects.

The appointment will be on a full time basis, initially for a period of two years, with the potential of renewal depending on performance and availability of funds. The remuneration of the position will depend on the selected candidate’s qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of research and innovation projects from various funding organizations such as EU funding sources and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF)
  • General project administration and coordination (financial reporting, deliverables, communication with funding organisations) on Institute level
  • Identification of research and innovation funding opportunities
  • Aiding in the development and writing of research and innovation project proposals
  • Working closely with the Innovation Management team for the management of Intellectual Property and for seeking for opportunities for innovative potential
Job Requirements


  • Master degree at a related field
  • a PhD degree and previous research experience will be considered as competitive advantag
  • Previous experience in an education/research Institution is required
  • At least five (5) years of experience in research project management and proposal writing for funding.
  • Previous experience in Innovation Management
  • Excellent knowledge of the MS Office
  • Excellent knowledge and command of both the Greek and English language   
  • High level of analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask changing priorities with limited supervision in a high-pressure work environment
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment

Additional, preferred skills include:

  • Working experience at an international level
  • Experience in presenting to medium and large audiences
  • Experience in coordination of teams
  • Contribution in writing successful research funding proposals
