Job Description

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing on international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. It exclusively offers graduate programs and is committed to attracting competitive students from all parts of the world, providing them with modern knowledge and skills to serve innovative areas of science, society and tomorrow's economy.

The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the Graduate School and his/her duties will include the management of the day to day operations of the School, budget and financial planning, staffing and liaising with students and academics as well as the relevant national and international stakeholders. He/she will be coordinating the proper delivery and expansion of the educational and training programs portfolio and the development of policies and procedures ensuring the smooth operation of the School and safeguarding the quality of provision.

The appointment will be on a full time basis, initially for a fixed-term period, with the potential of renewal depending on performance and Institute needs.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be carrying out the following activities

  • To manage the operations of the office of Graduate Studies at CyI and supervise secretarial and other administrative staff serving the Graduate School, so as to ensure its smooth operation;
  • To coordinate the curriculum planning process, the review of existing academic programs, and the accreditation of new and existing programs
  • To plan and prepare the Graduate School’s budget, manage and monitor its utilization
  • To facilitate the development and revision of course brochures, course descriptions, course materials including syllabi, and other related materials needed to support the running of the Graduate School;
  • To coordinate the development of programmatic policies and procedures that improve the running of academic programs;
  • To maintain effective communications related to academic affairs; respond to inquiries and draft messages for a variety of audiences;
  • To cultivate external relationships and contacts with government and other key stakeholders;
  • To prepare documents on current and emerging issues, including briefing materials, position papers, speaking points, policy research, protocols, media information and presentations;
  • To organize and coordinate curricular and non-curricular activities including preparations for meetings and recording of minutes (e.g. internal meetings, colloquia, faculty related events, etc.);
  • To identify ways to improve the organization and operation of the Graduate School;
  • To facilitate and liaise with all relevant governmental authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Culture, CYQAA etc.), EU relevant authorities and international educational institutions, organizations, foundations etc.
  • To promote the School and its activities to the general public, potential students and other relevant stakeholders.
  • To support academic affairs and activities as well as school-building initiatives
  • Undertakes any other responsibility, which is directly related to the Graduate School activities as assigned by the Dean/Associate Dean of the Graduate School.
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master degree
  • Strong leadership experience in an international environment
  • Strong organizational skills and proactive attitude
  • Minimum five (5) years of related demonstrable experience in a similar or relevant position
  • Excellent and demonstrable written skills in both Greek and English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree relevant with the duties of the position is preferred
  • Previous experience in a Higher Education Institution will be considered an advantage
