The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.

The successful candidate will be actively engaged with the on-going research at the Cyprus Institute in the Sustainability and Built Environment group of the Energy Division. They will be part of the research team working for the implementation of the ‘Towards Zero Energy Hospitals in the Balkan Region (ZenH Balkan) research project. The project is funded by the Interreg Balkan-Med program and aims to facilitate the implementation of the EPBD by defining the characteristics and Standards for Zero Energy Hospitals in the South Balkan region and it will contribute towards improved energy efficiency in the building sector.

The successful candidate will work on developing and evaluating Energy performance simulations of hospital buildings, assist in the preparation of project deliverables and activity reports and will contribute to administrative tasks such as initiating procurements for the acquisition of equipment/services.

The appointment will be will be of a part-time basis, for a fixed term period of seven (7) months. 



The successful candidate will be carrying out the following activities

  • Evaluation of Energy performance simulations of building(s).
  • Assistance in the preparation of deliverables and activity reports.
  • Initiating procurements for the acquisition of equipment/services
  • Contribution in the writing of scientific article and presentations
  • Contribution in the development of EU funded project proposals
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or relevant qualification to the duties 
  • Expertise in energy performance of buildings and energy simulations
  • Ability to assist in the writing of scientific articles and reports
  • Ability to present scientific results at meetings and conferences
  • Data analysis and optimization of the energy, climate, comfort and the human factor in the built environment (indoor, outdoor).
  • Development or adaptation of policies and standards in built environment
  • Optimization of energy resource systems for energy efficient buildings
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt to a multicultural/multinational environment
  • High level of organizational, analytical and problem-solving skill
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language both verbal and in writing. Knowledge of the Greek language will be considered an advantage

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSc in Energy or Bioclimatic Architecture will be considered an advantage
