The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.
The selected Postdoctoral Fellow will be supporting the Principal Investigator (PI)/Project Coordinator (CO) in carrying out the research activities the coordination and implementation of the RPF funded project Face to Face: Meet an Ancient Cypriot-project. The Cyprus Institute is the Host Organisation (HO) of the FF-MAC project, including partner organisations from academia, enterprises, governmental organisations, as well as other interested organisations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out research on human bioarchaeology, aiming at construction of osteobiographies and related ancient life stories, as well as for coordinating and implementing other project activities under the direct supervision of the CO of the project.
The Face to Face: Meet an Ancient Cypriot (FF-MAC) – project is funded by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) and involves a quadruple helix consortium of academia, enterprises, governmental services and policy makers, and societal stakeholders, with a project budget of over 1 million Eur. The overall aim of the project is to increase the appeal and accessibility of cultural heritage for tourism through encounters with real individuals from the Cypriot past, based on bioarchaeological research leading to construction of osteobiographies, ancient life stories, and visitor encounters with real, individual life stories from the past. The project involves an integrated intervention through research, and technological and innovation activities for addressing important challenges in the relevant sector.
The appointment will be on a full time basis, initially for a fixed-term period, with the potential of renewal depending on performance and availability of funds.
